Searching through some 300 international sources, NewsIndex finds articles from a lot of different perspectives and from some high-class news operations like the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times.

To start, the bot's home page offers a list of current events that deal with national politics and major world events, and feature links to related stores.

For more specific searching, the site is simple to use. You type keywords, select whether you want articles to contain "any" or "all" of your keywords, and then click "Search." In our tests, NewsIndex brought up a generous 781 stories on "Al Gore," 41 on "recycling," and 16 on "Schulz."

Overall, NewsIndex came up with the most stories related to our topics, and offered decent search options. NewsIndex may not access as many major publications as Excite's NewsTracker, and it lacks that bot's overall polish, but it can definitely find lots of information.
