Ella is the winner of the 2002 Loebner Prize Contest for "Most Human
Computer". She is a rather charming on-line chatterbot with an interface using multiple
images and text display boxes. Ella can play full-featured Blackjack, tell
I Ching fortunes, and perform various useful functions, all with natural
language interaction. A lexical database with more than 120, 000 entries is
used to assist her knowledge and usefulness. A Convun (Conversational
Units) database of hundreds of jokes, trivia, anecdotes, poems, etc. helps
Ella to keep her conversations interesting and informative. The
EllaZ System is also soliciting contributions of jokes, images, trivia, and
so from whoever wishes to contribute.
